Walk and talk: Freudenberg inspires students with a new format as an employer with many opportunities
What opportunities and programs does Freudenberg offer to start a career after graduation? What do the tasks look like, which business groups are there? What advice do former students have for a good career start? These and many other questions were asked by students from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences to other young talents and experts from the globally active company. “Under the motto Walk and Talk, the new format offers a new and exciting insight into Freudenberg as a technology company and interesting employer with prospects,” says organizer Patricia Schweikert, responsible for Marketing and Talent Acquisition at Corporate HR. “The first event was very well received and more are planned.”
The package offered a lot for one day: A guided tour of the company exhibition and journey through the past 175 years with Dr. Michael Horchler, Head of Corporate Archives, personal exchanges with former students at a trade fair set up especially for this event in the pavilion, a production tour and a presentation on talent management at Freudenberg.
“For Freudenberg, all employees are talents and can, and should, develop continuously,” says Marion Prager, Vice President Global Talent Management. “We focus on personal initiative and exploring the available opportunities. Think about it: where do I want to go? Then there are many ways to learn and get your career off to a flying start, from stays abroad to mentoring and development programs to job shadowing. ”The students will then start talking to various Freudenberg talents. They will briefly introduce themselves on slides at individual stands and then answer any questions in person.“
Conducting internal audits in different Business Groups and locations is very varied,” says Marco Fischer, Manager Corporate Audit. He previously studied business administration at the Cooperative State University, specializing in industry. “A great insight into the company, its culture and possible career paths,” says student Line Laubis, who is studying industrial engineering.
Process engineer Frank Lang inspires the students during a tour of the FST Business Group's Simmerring production facility. “It's an exciting insight, there aren't many opportunities like this,” says student Julius Wiester. “We can ask questions and experience the production process live, which is great.” For Patricia Schweikert, the day was worthwhile: “I'm sure that some of them now know Freudenberg better and are considering us as a future employer.”
